Most people who book come on their own, and many are travelling to remote places to spend a few hours with someone they first met online. Taking that seriously is part of the job. This page sets out exactly how these sessions are run so you can decide with full information — and so there's a clear standard you can hold me to.
We always meet first at an agreed public place — a car park, café or visitor centre — never at a remote spot or anywhere isolated. You'll have the exact location, what I'll be wearing or driving, and a description before the day. If anything about the meeting point feels wrong when you arrive, you're free to leave with no question and a full refund.
Before each session you'll get a written plan: the route, the locations, the start and expected finish time. You're encouraged to share this — and my name and contact details — with someone you trust. If you'd like to share your live location with that person for the duration, that's welcome and normal; I'd rather you did.
On sessions held within mobile coverage, you're welcome to carry a live GPS tracker for the four hours and send the tracking link to someone you trust, so a person of your choosing can see where you are in real time. Please note this depends on mobile signal: in remote spots without coverage it won't update, so it's a reassurance on accessible sites, not a substitute for the plan above.
You're always welcome to bring a friend, partner or family member along at no extra charge, whether or not they're shooting. If they want to take part with their own camera, they're counted as a participant at the normal rate; if they're simply there as company, they come free. No one should feel they have to be alone with me to learn.
Some locations have no mobile signal. I'll tell you in advance where that's the case, carry a means of emergency communication a satellite messenger, and always share the plan with a third party before we lose signal. Sessions are cancelled or moved for genuinely dangerous weather — your safety comes before any photograph.
You're welcome to ask to see any of these before booking.
When sessions for under-18s open, they will only run with a parent or guardian present throughout. The guardian attends free of charge unless they bring their own camera to take part. I will never be alone and unobserved with a young person.
If at any point on a session you feel uncomfortable, you can end it immediately, and I'll help you get safely back to the meeting point. To raise a concern afterwards, contact me at [you@email.com].
